For Democratic Reform, FDR, is an initiative created by Democrats, primarily Clinton Democrats, whose objective is to take back and reform the Democratic party and re-establish the proper relationship of the government to the people. FDR has both short term and long term goals. Our short term goals are:
- To promote and support liberal and progressive Democrats in Congress in order to give them enough critical mass to pass legislation.
- To unseat Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid from power due to their destructive and/or feckless leadership.
- To persuade the Senate to appoint Hillary Clinton as majority leader.
- To help women get elected to political office.
Our long term goals are:
- To elect a Democrat to the White House in 2012 who will promote core Democratic principles in the spirit of Hillary Clinton, Franklin Roosevelt and other strong Democratic leaders.
- To expand upon the Four Freedoms and other core Democratic principles such as social justice, fiscal responsibility, a healthy planet, privacy and strength through vigorous diplomacy..
- To renew the principle of self-determination of average citizens.
- To reform the primary election process.
- To promote a more equitable society and government through lobbying efforts, vetting and support of candidates and coalition building.
- To reach the 30% solution, that is, 30% of all elected politicians should be women.
FDR is a work in progress. As we establish our infrastructure, explain our philosophy and formalize our plans, we will be using this site as a means of communicating with other disaffected Democrats who want to get involved and change the party for the better.

Thanks Madamab – everything you suggested was what I was going to say – so no need to reiterate it. Now, this is something we can get our hands dirty with and minds into!!

Count me in! I would like to do all I can to help. The agenda here is great. I would love to participate in a greater way than just blogging here on this site. I’m interested in helping in anyway I can in organizing, developing strategy, fundraising and coalition building. Please let me know what I can do to help. I live in the New York City area and therefore am close to a lot of things, groups, organizations, etc.. Please count me in!!!! I can’t sit idle being this pissed off and frustrated. Blogging is great, but I want to do more.

OMG! I feel like a silly little fangirl reading this. This is exactly what we need in this country right now.
Now, what can I do to help? I don’t want to sit by being pissed off and frustrated either.

I certainly agree with the 30% Solution. It’s a great idea and a wonderful goal. I want to know more about the candidates though. I sent a lot of money to Act Blue for candidates who turned out to be closer to Republicans than being Democrats and voting for Democratic principles.
Just a thought.

Given the strange, but completely lawful, alliance between Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and Frank with the Bush administration on the bailout swindle, I think a first programmatic initiative for FDR would be bringing back the Glass-Steagle bill, Franklin Roosevelt’s regulatory policy against speculators. A proposed action slogan would be “No Bailout for Wall Street, No Bail for Financial Predators.”

This is necessary, for the sake of the global perspective.
